Benefits of Play Therapy
Developmentally children do not have the words to tell us what is going on. Play therapy with a trained professional can help children access their thoughts and feelings without verbalization.
Play allows children to play out their inner most world. In a play therapy session, a child is given a safe space to unapologetically be themselves. Children are given the ability to make their own choices and have a sense of control.
PLAY THERAPY
Play therapy techniques are used primarily with children; a therapist incorporates puppets, sand, small figurines, etc, as communication mediums to assist children in resolving their psychological and emotional difficulties. The objects and patterns of play, as well as the willingness to interact with the child therapist, can be used to understand the underlying rationale for behavior both inside and outside the therapy session.
